Suma Borra (Founder and President):
Hi my name is Suma Borra. I am a junior at Panther Creek High-school. My hobbies include hanging out with my friends, volleyball, and working with animals. I am the founder and president of Paws for Progress. Within this program, my team and I coordinate initiatives with animal rescues and teenagers around NC to advocate for the importance of animal welfare. As an aspiring veterinarian, I started this program to combine my passion for animal care with community service. Through Paws for Progress, I hope to inspire others to make a difference in the lives of animals!
Alba Bica (Event Coordinator):
Hi my name is Alba Bica, I'm a junior at panther creek! My hobbies are community service, playing volleyball, and being with friends! I am an event coordinator for Paws for Progress! I will help with outreach and gaining connections throughout the community! I wanted to be part of this program because I have a deep love for animals and believe that since they don't have a voice, we should be one for them. I really hope that other join our program to spread the awareness of animals in shelters and the #adoptdontshop movement!
Layla Ormond (Event Coordinator):
Hi my name is Layla Ormond. I am 17 years old and a junior at Panther Creek High-school. My hobbies include cosmetology, basketball, and shopping. I am the event coordinator for Paws for Progress. I plan meetings, volunteer events, etc. within our nonprofit. I wanted to help and join this program because of my desire to go to vet school and my love for all animals. By joining this program I hope to earn valuable experience and connections with animals in our community.
Ava Kilmer (Digital Media Chair):
Hi, my name is Ava Kilmer and I’m a sophomore at Panther Creek High. Some of my hobbies involve spending time with my friends, reading, going to the gym, and exploring nature. I’m passionate about giving back and expressing my empathy through positive actions and influence, which is exactly what why I wanted to be apart of this program. As one of the social media managers, I will help expand connections and engage within the community. Raising awareness about animals and shelters is essential, and this program is a great way to make that happen!!
Sophia Stark (Digital Media Chair):
Hi! My name is Sophia Stark, and I'm a Junior at Panther Creek High. Some of my hobbies include playing basketball, spending time with friends, and volunteering. As the Digital Media Chair, I will manage all of our socials as well as our organizations website. I wanted to be a part of this program because I enjoy giving back to the community and I love animals! Pranitha Chalamalasetti (Outreach Coordinator):
Hi! I’m Pranitha, a junior at Raleigh Charter High School and the Outreach Coordinator for Paws for Progress. I got involved with P4P because I wanted to be part of something meaningful in the lives of the animals. As outreach coordinator, I’m excited to connect with people, spread the word, and help grow our impact in the community! In my free time, I love reading, cooking, and hanging out with friends!
Yasmeen Fathima (Outreach Coordinator):
Hey! I’m Yasmeen, a junior at Apex Friendship High School and the Outreach Coordinator for Paws for Progress. I joined Paws for Progress because I’m passionate about animal welfare and wanted to be part of something that makes a real impact. As outreach coordinator, I’m excited to help grow our presence in the community and connect with others who care about the cause. In my free time, I love cooking and traveling!
